Cardiff City won promotion to the Premier League by clinching the second automatic spot ahead of Fulham.
On the final day of the season, Cardiff needed to better Fulham’s result to ensure that they finished second in the Championship and went up.
In what promised to be a tense afternoon, Birmingham City comprehensively beat Fulham to make sure that Cardiff’s result against Reading was irrelevant.
Cardiff drew 0-0 with the Royals, meaning a Fulham win would have seen Neil Warnock’s side finish third, but Birmingham did the Bluebirds a major favour.
Warnock has already spoken of his desire to strengthen his squad and ensure they stay up, although they will be comforted by the fact that Newcastle United and Brighton have already secured survival and Huddersfield Town look like they might stay up too.
He wants at least five or six new additions this summer to bolster his squad.
Here are four realistic signings Warnock should be targeting.
