Wolves and Cardiff are the two hot favourites for automatic promotion and few could complain if they are promoted given the consistency and quality they've shown this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo and Neil Warnock have both built excellent squads in very different circumstances as well as targeting a very different type of player.

However, one similarity between the pair is that both looked to build from the back and have a very strong defensive structure.

Cardiff have conceded the fewest goals in the league and no one has kept more clean sheets than Wolves' John Ruddy.

Whilst it's a team effort, there's no doubt that Connor Coady and Bruno Ecuele Manga have been key to the success of their team, as you can see by our graphic.

It also highlights the different way the two sides defend.

Firstly, Coady is a sweeper and not the traditional centre-back, which is evident with his interceptions and clearances. The former Liverpool man has to cover teammates and read the game and isn't involved in a physical battle.

Whereas, Warnock is old-school with his approach to defending and it clearly works. Manga is committed, strong and in the team to tackle, clear and head.

Another expectation of Coady is that he will build attacks from the back, often as the spare man. The 89% pass success proves that it's the ideal role for the man who had spent most of his career in midfield.

Ultimately, they are two different approaches but both are paying off as Wolves and Cardiff look set to battle it out for the title.
