Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has provided a mixed injury update ahead of Saturday's game at home with Birmingham City.

The Bluebirds have had their injury problems lately, with a few first-team squad members still in the treatment room and just returning to training following injury.

Warnock said: "Sol’s been busy getting back to fitness.

"We’ve always been told November and that game for the under-23s did him the world of good.

"There’s not much light at the moment with Tomlin. He’s had an injection and although there’s nothing untoward on the scan he’s not feeling right.

"He hasn’t trained now for the best part of 10 days, so it’s difficult because he was going to be a big part against Swansea and this weekend.

"Junior did some light training yesterday. He’s still got a bit of fluid there, but there’s no tear as such. Hopefully, another few days will bring him back into contention.

"Glatzel’s out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring and there are one or two other problems."

Bamba has been out with injury since March after tearing a cruciate ligament in a Premier League game with Wolverhampton Wanderers and has more recently played a Cardiff under-23s game as he steps up his recovery from injury.

Hoilett missed the South Wales derby on Sunday with a hamstring strain having been a vital player for Cardiff this season by scoring two goals in 11 Championship appearances.

Former Bristol City forward Tomlin hasn't long returned to the Cardiff side and has scored one in six league appearances this campaign while being deployed in the No.10 role behind the main Bluebirds striker.

Glatzel has made 11 appearances for Cardiff this season in the Championship but has been struggling in front of goal with just the two goals so far as he settles into England for the first time.

The Verdict

Bamba returning to playing for the Cardiff under-23s is positive news for the Bluebirds as their defence is in need of more reinforcements, while Hoilett returning will be a big boost through his tricky wing play.

Cardiff will be hoping that Tomlin and Glatzel suffer no setbacks with their recoveries over the next couple of weeks, as Warnock hopes to get a fully fit squad at his disposal sooner rather than later so the Bluebirds can try to move up the league.
