Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has once again been left fuming by Iceland and their manager Heimir Hallgrimsson, according to a report by Wales Online.

Iceland captain Gunnarsson is being asked to attend a three week training camp to build up for his country's World Cup qualifier match in June, something which Warnock clearly feels is out of order.

Warnock said: “They want him for three weeks. I don't legally think they can do it but Aron's not going to say no because he's the captain. But it's no good going in three weeks doing 40 minute runs every day when he doesn't need it, he needs to have a swim and a game of golf. By all means ten days before the game do some stepping up, but they've got to understand everything doesn't revolve around this game."

“They could do long-term damage to him if they're not careful.”

The news from Hallgrimsson could well prompt an angry phone call from Warnock, who is not a man to shirk an argument or disagreement when it comes to protecting his players and his club.

Gunnarsson has been in excellent form once again for the Bluebirds this season, helping Warnock turn round a miserable start to the season and push the club up the table to a comfortable mid-table finish.

Warnock will be hoping to add more players of Gunnarsson's quality to his squad in the summer months, with the ultimate aim of getting his team challenging for a top six spot come this time next year.
