Marko Grujic is confident about Cardiff's chances of promotion and also praised compatriot Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Cardiff will come back from the international break with a seven point gap over Fulham in third as well as a game in hand against Derby County.

The Serbian international joined the club on loan from Liverpool in January. He has impressed since joining with one of the central midfield spots becoming his own.

Whether he extends his spell with Cardiff is unknown because there is a slight chance that he could contend for the defensive midfield role at Liverpool.

Here's what he had to Serbian newspaper Alo! as quoted by SportWitness: "We have a chance to rise to the Premier League and I believe we will use it."

"Our competitor is Fulham, for which Aleksandar Mitrovic is brilliant and I want him to score goals, but for their defence to concede too. The national team would have a good attacker, and Cardiff would go to a higher ranking."

The Verdict

Grujic maintained the balance well between his national side and his current club side as well as his parent club.

He obviously wants to help his team into the Premier League, but also has the important task of doing well in the World Cup in the near future, so he was in a tough position. His honesty worked well in the circumstances, though.

Mitrovic has been brilliant for Fulham so far, so it was only fair for Grujic to agree with that. His goals have helped fire Fulham into third, but they are unlikely to catch the top two especially because they dropped points in their 2-2 draw with local rivals QPR.
