Cardiff City are reportedly lining-up a move for Almeria winger Gaspar Panadero in January.

Neil Harris is a manager who's been looking forward to the January transfer window. At his new club, the ex-Millwall manager is keen to reshuffle his side, get rid of the deadwood and bring in some new faces.

Today it's been reported by Spanish outlet AS that the Welsh side are interested in Almeria's Panadero.

Almeria are currently 2nd in Spain's Segunda Division but Panadero has fallen down the pecking order, and has only featured once in his side's last eight games.

He's made ten league appearances for the club this season with two assists to his name, and could be a timely addition to Harris' Cardiff.

The move is in it's earliest phases but it looks like a loan-deal is the more likely option for Panadero, with Almeria seemingly unwilling to sell the 22-year-old.

Cardiff aren't alone in their pursuit of the Spaniard though. Fellow Spanish outfit Burgos are said to be interested in Panadero, with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol in the race too.

The verdict

Cardiff are in need of something or someone a bit different in January, and Panadero could be the perfect fit. A typically tricky Spanish winger, a loan-move to Cardiff in the second-half of this season would be both beneficial to the player and the club.

Harris will have to move fast though to secure his services, be it on a permanent or temporary basis, and he'll have to fend off European competition to land the winger in South Wales.
