Celtic ace Jonny Hayes, who has appeared 16 times for the club this season, is being lined up for a possible move to Swansea City or Stoke City this upcoming January transfer window.

Hayes is out of contract with the Scottish Premiership side next summer and will be free to talk to other clubs from January over a pre-contract switch, something which Cardiff City supporters will be disappointed about.

The reason that Cardiff fans will be disappointed to see their south Wales rivals lining up a move for Hayes is because the winger was once a target of the Bluebirds back in the summer of 2017 over a potential loan move to The Cardiff City Stadium.

The 32-year-old is being linked heavily with a move to the Championship with Cardiff once again being whispered about as a potential destination for the winger, however Swansea and Stoke's interest appears to be heavier than what the interest of Neil Harris could be.

The Irish winger has featured in the Football League before and has had a fruitful sell north of the border with Inverness, Abderdeen and Celtic, with the winger likely being a welcome addition to Cardiff if he had made the surprise move nearly two-and-a-half years ago.

Bluebirds supporters will be hoping that Hayes doesn't end up with their Welsh rivals as it would only give Swansea more of an edge as they battle for promotion from the Championship and rise back up to the Premier League, while they will also feel a sense of disappointment if the winger does move to The Liberty Stadium.

Cardiff fans would be left to think about why former manager Neil Warnock didn't make a move for Hayes after the interest of a loan first appeared two years ago, with the winger having struggled to nail down a starting spot for the Scottish giants Celtic since joining them in 2017.

Hayes could have added something to Cardiff over the 2017-2018 season if Warnock had signed him, and maybe have signed him on a permanent basis afterwards however for now, Bluebirds supporters will be hoping that the experienced winger will choose Stoke over Swansea unless Cardiff make a surprise bid in the winter.
