Cardiff City, Coventry City and Huddersfield Town are all keen on signing Connor Ronan from Wolves in the January transfer window.

The midfielder has been at Molineux since he was a teenager but he has struggled to ever establish himself as a regular, with his game time over the years coming from various loan spells.

However, Ronan didn't sort a summer move, meaning he has spent most of the first part of the campaign playing for the U23s.

Therefore, a January switch always seemed on the cards and reporter Mike Keegan has revealed that the Championship trio are keen on landing the Irishman, who will be allowed to depart.

"Bit of early transfer news: Huddersfield, Cardiff and Coventry have joined Aberdeen and Hibs in the chase for Wolves’ midfielder Connor Ronan. Player can leave Molineux in January."

It's no surprise Ronan has interest in Scotland as his previous loan spell was with St. Mirren, where he impressed, scoring seven goals in 26 league games in the 2021/22 season north of the border.

The verdict

There's no doubt that Ronan needs to secure a move away in January and you would have to say that he would add quality to any of those three clubs.

Despite his lack of game time at Wolves, he has shown with previous loan spells that he does have talent. He is a technically sound player and has the ability to score goals from midfield which is obviously a massive positive.

So, for a relatively modest fee, this could turn out to be a shrewd bit of business for any of the clubs in the New Year and Ronan will be desperate to show what he can do at a new club.
