Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has been rather vocal in declaring his aspirations head of the new season, with the former QPR man fancying his side’s chances of a few upsets ahead of their trip to Burton Albion on the opening weekend of the new campaign.

Warnock has made some decent signings this summer, including the likes of Lee Tomlin, Lee Camp and Danny Ward, and Warnock will be confident his summer transfer business will be enough to lead his side to a top half finish next time out.

What the boss did not envisage however is losing any of his stars, but this could now become a reality, with newly promoted Brighton linked with a move for impressive striker Kenneth Zohore.

The Dane only moved to south Wales last summer from Belgian side Kortrijk, but 12 goals in only 29 Championship games saw the 23-year-old raise eyebrows across the English game.

A distant relative of former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, the massive 6 ft 3 in forward caused a number of headaches amongst opposition defences last semester, and his ability in front of goal fired his side to a comfortable mid table return.

Brighton are looking for options ahead of their debut Premier League season, and boss Chris Hughton will want to tie up a few more deals before they begin their season in just under three weeks time.

Hughton has seen fellow promoted boss David Wagner splash the cash at Huddersfield, and will know his side will need further recruits if they are to avoid a relegation scrap.

Zohore would be a fantastic addition, but Warnock will fight to his last breath to ensure the player remains in the Welsh capital beyond the summer window.

The player is instrumental to Cardiff’s plans next season, and combining Zohore with new signing Ward is the plan.

Cardiff will do what it takes to keep Zohore, but with the Premier League calling, he could be on his way.

How much of a blow would losing Zohore be to your side, Cardiff fans?
