Cardiff considering move for international defender

Published

on

Cardiff City are set to go back in for Preston North End left-back Greg Cunningham in the current transfer window, after they were rebuffed in the summer, according to HITC.

Neil Warnock will be hoping that his side’s impressive first part of the season will convince Cunningham to swap Deepdale for the Cardiff City Stadium.

A hamstring injury has limited Cunningham to just four league appearances this season but he returned against the Bluebirds last month and played in Preston 5-1 thrashing of Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The Irishman has four caps for his country and with just eighteen months left on his contract, Alex Neil might be tempted to cash in if the offer is right.

The Verdict

It’s clear that Warnock is a big fan of Cunningham and will really test the water in this window now he is back to full fitness.

I am not sure the former Sheffield United boss would be able to convince the Irishman that he is building something better at Cardiff than Alex Neil is at Preston as I don’t see the Bluebirds making the play-offs.
