Cardiff City will consider offers for 2021 signing

Cardiff City will listen to offers for striker James Collins this summer, as per a report from Football Insider.

The Bluebirds striker, who arrived on a two-year deal from Luton Town in the summer, managed 26 Championship appearances during the 2021/22 campaign, with 13 of those coming in the form of starts.

Appearing just two times since February, the January additions of Uche Ikpeazu and Jordan Hugill forced the former Luton man down the pecking order at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The report states that the Bluebirds are open to offers for the Republic of Ireland international, with the club eager to bring in a new centre-forward this summer.

Who did Cardiff play on the opening day of the Championship season?

Adjusting to Championship level football well with the Hatters, Collins has only managed three league goals this season, with the appointment of Steve Morison coinciding with decreasing game time.

The verdict

It is no real surprise that the South Wales club are open to offers for the experienced forward, with it being interesting to see where the next move might be.

Since January, Collins appears to be the club’s fifth-choice striker, something that would warrant Cardiff to assess their options when it comes to inclusion in next season’s squad.

He has proven to be a scorer of goals in the Championship before, however, this struggling stint is unlikely to attract many, if any second-tier clubs to his expected availability.

Instead, a move to the top end of League One could be more likely, with Collins setting the division alight the last time he was there.
