Championship league leaders Cardiff City are in talks to sign former midfielder Joe Ledley on a free transfer, according to Wales Online.
Wales Online understand that manager Neil Warnock has shortlisted Joe Ledley as well as a second midfielder, but will only sign one of the two.
The second midfielder has not been named.
Ledley was released by Crystal Palace at the end of last season and was linked with a number of clubs over the summer, but looks set for a move to a club he left seven years ago.
The 30-year-old is an academy product at Cardiff City and left the club for Scottish giants Celtic after his contract expired in Wales.
He played in Scotland for three and a half years before moving to Crystal Palace in January 2014.
Cardiff have made an excellent start to the season, winning every game they’ve played in the Championship so far.
It’s quite amazing that Joe Ledley is still a free agent on deadline day, as he’s a player who would be an excellent addition for any Championship side, especially if he costs nothing.
It’s the right move for Ledley as this is a club that knows his qualities and know how good a player he can be, and if he is unfit having not been at a club for two months, they will certainly have patience with him.
He’s more of a defensive minded midfielder and will help to sure up the midfield for Warnock and Cardiff, adding to the decent players they have in Aron Gunnarsson, Loic Damour and Joe Ralls.
