Cardiff say that Wolves have not submitted an offer anywhere near £3 million for Joe Mason and would be reluctant to sell even if the offer did come in.

Mason is well known for his goal in the Carling Cup final against Liverpool and spent most of this season on loan at Bolton Wanderers.

The forward picked up an injury at the back end of last year and was recalled by boss Russell Slade so that Mason could continue his treatment at his parent club.

The promising 24-year-old made eight appearances in total for the Bluebirds during an injury-hit season and managed to grab himself a goal Cardiff's penultimate home game against Blackpool.

Bluebirds boss Russell Slade remains adamant that Joe Mason is a big part of his plans for next year, and has made it clear that as far as he is concerned there is no doubt that he will be part of his squad come August.

There has also been interest for Cardiff's long-serving midfielder Peter Whittingham but again, the club and Russell Slade himself has said there is no way he would let fan-favourite leave the club over the summer.

Whittingham has made an impressive 339 league appearances for the club and has only missed three games this season.

The interest for the former England under-21 has come from fellow Championship clubs but their enquires have been rebuffed by Cardiff City.

Wales Online report that Cardiff have issued a "hands-off" warning the their Championship rivals regarding Peter Whittingham and Joe Mason as they will be an important part of Russell Slade's side next term.
