Cardiff City trying to agree deal for Reading FC midfielder

Cardiff City are plotting some late moves in the transfer market, and one potential incoming could be Gareth McCleary, with the Bluebirds rumoured to be keen on the Reading midfielder, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

McCleary joined the Royals in 2012 when they were a Premier League side, and has gone on to make 136 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals.

He would bring vast Championship experience to the Cardiff City side having had a prolonged spell at Nottingham Forest before that, as well as pace and trickery in the wide areas.

Whether Reading would be willing to sell such a player so close to the end of the window remains to be seen, but it promises to be busy couple of days in the Championship.

If Jaap Stam has a replacement lined up, McCleary could be set to make the move to Wales and join Trollope’s side as they look to push for a top 6 finish this season.

Cardiff fans…What do you think? Would you like to see McCleary signed? How much business would you like to see the club do before the window slams shut?
