Cardiff City will be looking to fight it out for promotion to the Premier League next season under Mick McCarthy after seeing their play-off bid falter towards the end of the campaign just gone.

The Bluebirds eventually finished someway short of a place in the top six and as a result they are looking to go again under the stewardship of the former Wolves boss.

Further signings appear likely for the Welsh club as they look to stay in the race for the top places for the duration of the season.

Cardiff have already brought in the likes of James Collins, Ryan Wintle, Mark McGuinness from Luton Town, Crewe Alexandra and Arsenal respectively.

Here, we round up all of the latest transfer gossip that has been swirling around the Cardiff City Stadium over the past few days.

Liverpool man targeted

Cardiff are said to be targeting a return for Sheyi Ojo to the club this summer, as per a recent report by Wales Online.

The Bluebirds would like to take the winger on loan from Liverpool once more after the 24-year-old's strong performances last term.

Liverpool are said to be keen on selling the player outright this summer if the right offer comes forward for his services,

Ojo scored five goals and assisted a further seven in 42 games last season for the club.

Harry Wilson latest

Brentford are said to be set to bid £10 million to sign Liverpool's Harry Wilson this summer, as per a recent report by The Sun.

The winger is set to be allowed to leave Anfield permanently this summer after spending recent seasons out on loan.

Cardiff were said to be interested in bringing the player back to South Wales after his loan spell with them last season, however it appears unlikely that they would be able to afford him.

The former Derby County man scored seven goals and assisted a further 11 for the Bluebirds last term.

Trialist brought in

Former Bristol City forward Marley Watkins is currently on trial with the Bluebirds as he looks to earn a contract in South Wales, as per a recent report by Wales Online.

The 30-year-old winger featured for Cardiff in their recent pre-season friendly against Bath City and is said to have been invited down by McCarthy in order for the club to weigh up a move for him.

Cardiff are said to be in the market for a wide player this summer and they could well make a move for the free agent.

Watkins previously played 29 games for Bristol City before his release earlier this month.
