Cardiff City's improvements under Mick McCarthy will have left fans optimistic about what next season can bring.

The experienced boss knows what's required to achieve success at this level and he will be aware that new signings will be needed to help the Bluebirds push for a top six place next year.

However, the financial situation with the Welsh club means that McCarthy won't be backed with significant funds to reshape the squad.

That won't be a problem to the manager and it hasn't prevented several named being linked with a move to Wales. And, here we provide you with an update of the latest rumours involving Cardiff...

Cardiff monitor Ikpeazu

Bringing in a striker seems like a high priority for McCarthy, even though he has already sealed a deal for James Collins, and Wales Online have claimed that Wycombe target man Uche Ikpeazu is on their radar.

The former Hearts man scored six goals for the Chairboys as they were relegated, but he impressed with his physicality and the way he disrupted the opposition.

Freddie Ladapo under consideration

Another name that has been suggested as a target is Freddie Ladapo.

The Rotherham man is another that provides a real physical presence up top and he too has shown his talent for a relegated side this season.

Following the Millers drop down to the third tier, Ladapo may be keen on remaining in the Championship so this is a deal that could happen, with Wales Online stating the Yorkshire outfit won't stand in his way if a suitable offer comes in.

Bluebirds in Kyle Lafferty race

A third striker has been linked with a move to the Welsh capital, as sources exclusively told Football League World that experienced free agent Kyle Lafferty could join.

Any deal for the Northern Irishman won't be straightforward though, as a host of clubs, including West Brom and Birmingham have also expressed an interest after the 33-year-old's fine form for Kilmarnock in recent months.
