Championship promotion chasers Cardiff City are looking to step up their pursuit of Peterborough striker Jack Marriott, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.

The in form striker has smashed in 23 goals already this season in all competitions and has caught the eye of plenty of teams in the Championship, with Cardiff and Neil Warnock emerging as key figures in the race to secure his signature.

However, the Posh will be hoping that the Bluebirds' interest is just the start of what they hope will be a big bidding war for their star man, with the club keen to make as much money as possible if they do indeed choose to sell Marriott this January.

The League One club are still battling to secure a playoff spot this season but have a history of making big profit on some of their star strikers, with Brit Assombalonga just one of many examples of the Posh making big bucks from their fowards.

Marriott himself has made no notions about a desire to leave the club, although a move to the Championship could well appeal to him as his reputation continues to grow in the third tier.

Cardiff fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
