Cardiff City have announced that striker, Rhys Healey has left to join MK Dons on a permanent deal.

Healey spent last season on loan with MK Dons, scoring nine goals in 21 appearances as they won promotion back into League One.

He's seemingly made a good impression on Paul Tisdale, who was keen to bring him back to the club on a permanent basis as the new season edges closer to getting underway.

The 24-year-old made three substitute appearances for Cardiff in the Premier League, but Neil Warnock reportedly gave Healey the chance to move on if a club is to entered the race to sign him.

Cardiff are likely to trim the wage bill as they prepare for life back in the Championship, after being relegated from the Premier League after a brief spell in the top-flight.

Healey has only made 16 appearances for the Bluebirds since signing from Welsh side, Connah's Quay Nomads FC in 2013, and he's been out on loan for a large part of his career.

So he'll be pleased to have his long-term future secured with MK Dons, as they look to settle into life in League One next season.

The Verdict:

This is a smart move by Cardiff.

Healey is a good player to have in the lower leagues, but I just can't see him featuring for Warnock's side anytime soon, with competition for places fierce in the Cardiff squad.

He's more likely to find regular game time with MK Dons, and Cardiff would be able to use the funds from his sale to strengthen their squad in other areas.
