Cardiff City summer recruit gives honest self-assessment

Published

on

Cardiff City’s summer signing, Robert Glatzel, has given an honest assessment of his start to life at the Bluebirds.

Glatzel joined from Heidenheim but has had a slow start to life in the Welsh capital, scoring just once, albeit from the penalty spot.

He’ll be hoping to improve his form as the Bluebirds gear up to face Hull City and QPR next week looking to kick-start their season.

Warnock’s side have found themselves hard to beat but haven’t yet posed a threat to the top six as they look to build some momentum after Saturday’s home victory over Middlesbrough.

Glatzel has insisted that despite it being difficult since joining in the summer, he knows he can be better.

Speaking to Wales Online, Glatzel said: “I know I can be better. That’s my goal, to be better for my team.

“I’m not satisfied. I want to score more goals, but at the same time, I have played six games and playing in another country is difficult.

“It’s not like you’re just going to come here and everything will be perfect. But I know I can be better and that is my goal.”

The Verdict

Glatzel, despite not getting on the scoresheet as much as he would have wanted to, has actually looked really impressive in the games he has played.

The striker leads the line quite well and can offer a lot more than most strikers in terms of his build-up play and physicality whilst still showing signs of technical play.

He just needs to get a goal from open play then I’m sure they will start streaming in, as he looks like he has all the attributes to be a top Championship forward at this level.
