The 2017/18 campaign was a season to remember for Cardiff City as they secured an unlikely promotion into the Premier League thanks largely to the remarkable management of Neil Warnock.

The Bluebirds were fancied to improve under the serial promotion winner but very few would have backed the Welshman to secure promotion into the top flight at the expense of the some of the Championship's bigger spending clubs.

The hard work starts now for the newly promoted side, however, with Warnock set to get to work on signing the right recruits in order to make Cardiff competitive among the country's big boys next season.

During their promotion winning campaign Callum Paterson was the club's top scorer with just 10 goals and adding a prolific striker to his ranks might be Warnock's number one priority this summer.

A list of potential targets will naturally be drawn up by the club but one man the Cardiff boss could consider is out of sorts Crystal Palace man Christian Benteke, who looks set to leave Selhurst Park this summer.

The Belgian talisman has fallen way down the pecking order under former England boss Roy Hodgson and the target man might relish a move to another Premier League club in a bid to revive his career.

Benteke netted just three times in the top flight last season but he has proved previously during his time in England that with the right service he can be lethal in front of goal.

The Cardiff manager has a proven track record of getting the very best out of players who have lost their way somewhat and the 27-year-old could enjoy a fruitful spell in Wales should he make a summer move.

Cardiff City fans, would you welcome Benteke to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
