The 19-year-old striker took part in his first training session with the Welsh side today, and looks set to put pen to paper on a loan deal until the end of season.

Speaking to Wales Online, Cardiff City manager Russell Slade said:“We were told Islam wasn’t coming down, but he’s here and training with us,”

“He has apparently changed representatives, but that’s all sorted now and Islam was keen to join us this week.”

“Islam is training with us and we’ll have talks over the next few days,”

“If this works out as we hope he could be in the squad against Fulham.”

Feruz has plied his trade on-loan at OFI Crete this season, however he looks set to return to England in January to continue his playing career.

Feruz joined Chelsea in a controversial deal from Scottish giants Celtic in 2011 for just £300,000.

The Chelsea forward has since then proved his abilities in various competitions including the U21 Premier League and NextGen Series. However, he has been unable to feature competitively in the Blues first team squad.

Feruz has featured for Scotland at Under-17 and Under-21 level, however the Somalia born forward has not played for the team since they were beaten 6-0 by England Under-21′s earlier this year.

The striker is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge, but is not yet in the first-team plans of Blues boss Jose Mourinho, so sending him out on loan is the best option.

Cardiff City are in need of a fresh impetus with the Welsh club not winning a league game in their last five games in the division.

The Bluebirds currently sit in 12th position in the Sky Bet Championship, having accrued 31 points from 24 league games.
