Cardiff City set for major January re-shuffle with strike duo set for exit

The exodus of strikers at Cardiff appears to be continuing as it has emerged that misfiring duo Alex Revell and Federico Macheda will both be offloaded in this January transfer window, just days after Kenwyne Jones was loaned out to Abu Dhabi side Al Jazira, according to Wales Online.

Eoin Doyle is another Cardiff striker who has been sent out on loan to Preston, leaving options for Cardiff in the striker department sparse.

They do have Charlton striker Tony Watt in on loan along with fellow strikers Idrissa Saadi, Joe Mason, Alex Revell and Federico Macheda, but Cardiff manager Russell Slade is looking to streamline his squad to free up funds so he can spend in January.

Revell has been disappointing since his move from Rotherham, with just two goals in 28 appearances and Slade is keen to get a loan deal for the 32-year-old striker, as he prepares to do business in January with a new striker the top priority.

Another player being cleared out is former Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda, best known for his phenomenal goal for United on his senior debut against Aston Villa.

The striker has struggled this season for Cardiff, making only two appearances from the bench after having surgery on his back.

The 24 year old who has represented Italy at U21 level looks to have run out of time at Cardiff, with the club keen on finding him a permanent deal away.

He has eight goals in 28 appearances for the Bluebirds but has struggled with injury since arriving.

All these strikers leaving point to Slade being keen on January business, as he looks to build a squad capable of pushing for the play-offs, with them currently well placed in mid-table.
