Championship league leaders have announced via their official club website that Sol Bamba has signed a new contract with the club.
The powerful centre-back put pen to paper on a new deal with the Welsh club that will keep him playing his football at the Cardiff City stadium until 2020.
Bamba, 32, only signed for the Bluebirds last season but has become somewhat of a fan favourite at the club and has so far played every minute of the club’s opening four games in the league, only conceding once in the process.
The Ivorian, who has previously had stints at Leeds United and Leicester City, will be hoping to celebrate his new deal with a victory at home to Ian Holloway’s QPR tomorrow.
This is a good move by City.
Despite being 32 now, Bamba is still a rock at the back as proven by the fact that Cardiff have only conceded once in the league.
In fact, the only loss Cardiff have suffered this season was in the EFL Cup and Bamba wasn’t in the squad that day.
Granted a lot of first team players weren’t but in the short time the Ivorian has been at the club, he has become a key member of Neil Warnock’s side.
Standing at 6’2” he is great in the air, solid in the tackle and a concentrated figure in the Bluebirds defence.
What do you think Cardiff fans? Are you pleased to have Bamba tied down on a new deal? Let us know in the comments!
