Cardiff City release duo to free up wage space for January transfers

Neil Warnock has confirmed that Cardiff City have released Kieran Richardson and Marouane Chamakh, according to BBC Sport.

Kieran Richardson and Marouane Chamakh joined Cardiff on free transfers shortly after Neil Warnock’s arrival in South Wales, alongside Sol Bamba and Junior Hoilett.

This was an indication of Warnock’s disapproval of the squad that his predecessor Paul Trollope had assembled.

And Warnock’s reshuffling of personnel looks likely to continue in January but he knows that some players have to leave so that he can buy new ones.

Both players were on short term deals with Cardiff City, which were due to expire in January anyway.

Kieran Richardson featured six times during his time with the Bluebirds whilst Marouane Chamakh only managed two substitute cameos for Neil Warnock’s side.

Cardiff are currently 19th in the Championship and just four points adrift of the relegation zone so Warnock is keen to recruit in January.

Cardiff fans – are you disappointed by Richardson or Chamakh leaving? Could they have offered anything more? Who can you get in with that spare money? Let us know in the comments below…
