Championship side Cardiff City have confirmed that Loic Damour has left the club, with the midfielder now joining Scottish Premiership outfit Heart of Midlothian.

Damour joined Cardiff on a free transfer in the summer of 2017 following his departure from French side Bourge-Peronnas.

The midfielder made 27 league appearances during his debut season with the club to help the Bluebirds win promotion to the Premier League, but featured just twice the following year as Cardiff suffered an immediate relegation from the top flight of English football.

Following Damour's departure from Wales, the 28-year-old has now signed a four-year contract with Hearts, who finished sixth in last season's Scottish Premier League.

With confirmation of the midfielder's move to Hearts, Cardiff have now seen six senior players exit the club this summer, with Kenneth Zohore, Bruno Manga, Aron Gunnarson, Kadeem Harris and Stuart O'Keefe all also leaving for pastures new.

The Verdict

This looks as though it could be a deal that suits all parties.

Despite having a fairly significant contribution to Cardiff's promotion to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season, Damour struggled to really get a look in during the Bluebird's campaign in the top flight last year.

You feel therefore that it would have been difficult for Damour to force his way back into Neil Warnock's side this season, and at 28-years-old, it is unlikely that the midfielder would have wanted to spend too much of this season stuck on the sidelines.

As a result a move to Hearts in search of more regular football does seem to make sense for the midfielder, while also helping to reduce Cardiff's wage budget, something they are unlikely to have wanted to be too high due to players struggling for game time such as Damour.
