Championship promotion hopefuls Cardiff City are looking to sign Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson, according to well respected journalist Alan Nixon.

The Bluebirds are in pole position to seal promotion back to the Premier League after seeing rivals Fulham conceded in the last minute to hand Wolves promotion and give Neil Warnock's men a huge boost in their own quest for the top flight.

And now Warnock is looking to add some much needed depth to his squad in the form of Motherwell stopper Carson, who has been in excellent form for the Scottish side this season and delivered consistently top performances.

Carson, who has had a career which has seen him take in a whole bunch of clubs since starting his career with Sunderland, will no doubt be keen to make a move to the Championship or even the Premier League if the opportunity represents itself.

The 30-year-old found his feet over the last two seasons in England with Hartlepool before making the move to Motherwell and securing his spot in the first team this time around to excellent effect. Cardiff themselves are looking for cover in the goalkeeping department, and manager Warnock will no doubt see Carson as the ideal sort of signing to play number two.

Cardiff fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
