Former Cardiff City centre-back Danny Gabbidon has delivered his verdict on the job Neil Harris is doing in South Wales since taking over from Neil Warnock in November.

The Bluebirds won three of their first four games under the former Millwall man but have since found three points hard to come by, although many empathise because this side is still built very much to Warnock's liking.

However, Gabbidon is not one of those.

"I just can't have that as an excuse," he said during an interview on with the BBC on Ellis James Feast of Football.

"Those players have been honed to play a certain way for the three years Warnock was there, but I'm not having that you can't change.

"If you've got a manager on the training ground, drilling stuff into you every day, it won't take long."

QUIZ: Can you guess what these 14 ex-Cardiff men are up to now?

During his career with Cardiff, Gabbidon racked up over 100 appearances, scoring four goals, and becoming a legend over two different spells.

With 28 games played of the current campaign, Cardiff sit in 13th place with seven points between themselves and Preston North End, who occupy the final place in the play-offs as things stand.

They will have the chance to boost confidence away from the league on Saturday when they travel to Reading in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The verdict

It is certainly an interesting take from Gabbidon, given the experience he has and the number of managers he will have played under.

But whilst some players may not take long to adapt to a new manager, it would be naive, in my opinion, to believe that every player will be the same.

In any walk of life different people respond better or worse to different types of authority figures and that will be the same in football.

Just changing a few players can make a huge difference to a team and until Harris has had the chance to do that, I don't think he should be judged too harshly.
