Cardiff City learn of asking price for Championship forward

Published

on

Wigan Athletic are set to demand around £4m for striker Kieffer Moore this month, amid reports linking the forward with a move to Cardiff City.

Reputable journalist Alan Nixon claims that the Latics want to make a profit on the fee they paid in the summer, having already rejected a bid from the Bluebirds last night.

The Wales international has scored two goals in 17 appearances since arriving from Barnsley in the summer, after scoring 19 goals to help the Tykes to win promotion from League One last term.

But despite only spending five months at the DW Stadium thus far, Wigan could be set to lose Moore to a fellow Championship side, and are set to demand around £4m for his signature.

Cardiff, though, are only said to be interested in signing him for half of that price at the moment, which could prove to be a stumbling block as the two sides look to complete a deal.

Where did Cardiff finish during their season in the Premier League in 2018/19?

Neil Harris’ will be keen to add more firepower to his squad this month, with Danny Ward topping the goalscoring charts with only five goals to his name this season.

The Verdict

I think that £4m is a very fair price for Moore to be perfectly honest.

He is a player who has struggled to settle at Wigan this season and has only scored a couple of goals, but he still has another two years left to run on his deal.

If I were Cardiff, I would be eager to sign him at that price, as when he does settle down somewhere, he scores goals for fun, as shown during his time at Barnsley.
