After a frustrating start to the season, Cardiff City were at least able to go into the November international break on something of a high.

Two late goals from Kieffer Moore earned the club a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, representing just a fourth win in 17 league games this season.

That leaves the Bluebirds 20th in the Championship table, three points clear of the relegation zone.

Although the international action means there is no game for them to think about this weekend, there has still been plenty of news around the club recently.

Here, we've taken a look at some of the biggest Cardiff City stories from the course of the past few days.

Morison set for permanent appointment

Much of the focus around Cardiff recently, has been on the club's search for a new manager to replace Mick McCarthy, following his sacking back in October after a run of eight straight defeats.

Now it seems as though the Bluebirds are about to get their man, with reports from TeamTalk now claiming that Steve Morison is set to be appointed as the club's permanent manager on a deal until the end of this season.

Morison has been in caretaker charge of Cardiff since McCarthy's departure from the Welsh capital, taking four points from his three games in interim charge of the Bluebirds.

Warnock makes Cardiff contact claim

Although it is Morison who now looks set to take on the managerial role at Cardiff, it seems he may not have been their first choice for the job, with a familiar face having apparently been sounded out.

According to reports from Wales Online, Cardiff previously made an approach to Neil Warnock to find out if he was interested in returning to the club, something which he appears to have turned down, judging by those updates around Morison.

Warnock took charge of Cardiff for just over three years between 2016 and 2019, and won promotion to the Premier League in 2018, although he is currently out of work after being sacked by Middlesbrough earlier this month.

Giles back at Wolves

Away from the manager talk, there has also been some movement with regards to players this week, involving Ryan Giles.

According to The Shropshire Star, the on-loan Wolves winger is one of several player out on loan from the Premier League this season, who has returned to Molineux over the international, giving manager Bruno Lage a chance to assess the progress they have made with their temporary clubs.

Giles has been one of Cardiff's brighter figures during their difficult campaign so far, with the 21-year-old providing seven assists in 14 league games for the Bluebirds this season.

Safe standing update

It seems there could soon be change in the stands as well as the dugout at the Cardiff City Stadium in the not too distant future.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Cardiff have received clearance to trial a return to safe-standing at the club's home ground, from next January.

As well as Cardiff, Premier League quartet Chelsea; Manchester City; Manchester United and Tottenham are also set to be involved in the process, as the prospect of reintroducing standing to top level football is assessed once again.
