Cardiff City are hoping to beat off the competition for the signature of Solihull Moors forward Kyle Hudlin this summer and want to agree a deal with the National League outfit, according to print edition of The Sun on Sunday (20/06/21, p65).
Hudlin is a powerful forward that has started to attract the attention of a few clubs in the Football League this summer after firing in 12 goals in 39 appearances all competitions last term for Solihull Moors.
It has previously been reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon that Cardiff could one of the sides interested in securing a move for the 20-year-old this summer.
That came after reports from Football Insider had suggested that the likes of Huddersfield Town, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday were all in the mix of teams chasing the forward’s signature this summer window.
Did these 20 midfielders ever score a goal for Cardiff City?
According to the latest report from The Sun on Sunday (20/06/21, p65), Cardiff are now hoping that they can agree a deal with Solihull Moors for Hudlin and give him the chance to show what he can do in the Football League. That comes with the Bluebirds keen to add to their attacking options this summer and they are aiming to beat off the competition for the 20-year-old.
From this update, it does suggest that Cardiff are starting to firm up their interest in Hudlin ahead of making a potential move to sign him this summer from Solihull Moors. The 20-year-old certainly seems to have a lot of potential and his physical presence alone would be able to cause plenty of problems for opposing defenders in the Championship next term.
The forward is likely to be somewhat raw given that he has not yet had the chance to play in the Football League and therefore asking him to step up instantly into the Championship would be a major task. However, at Cardiff, he would be able to develop his game working alongside Kieffer Moore and that would be a major plus for someone of his age.
The Bluebirds are going to have to work hard to secure his signature amid the interest from other sides, but Cardiff should be a very attractive destination for someone in Hudlin’s position this summer. You would doubt he would be a player that would be an instant starter for them but as a long-term addition, it would make sense for McCarthy’s side.
