Cardiff City have confirmed that they have completed the signing of winger, Gavin Whyte on a four-year-deal from League One side, Oxford United.

Whyte made 36 league appearances for Oxford last season, scoring seven goals as the Bluebirds finished 12th in the League One table.

Neil Warnock has evidently been impressed with what he has seen from the 23-year-old, and he'll be hoping that Whyte can make an impact for Cardiff next season.

It's the first season back in the Championship for Warnock's side, as they look to make an immediate return to the Premier League, following their relegation from the top-flight last term.

Speaking in an interview with the Cardiff City TV, Whyte issued his thoughts after signing for Cardiff, and is looking forward to getting started with his new team.

"I give 100% - I'm a hard worker, I'm positive, I like to go forward and take players on...

"Now I can't wait to get the kit on, play as many games as I can and help this great Club to be where they need to be."

Cardiff boss, Neil Warnock was pleased to land Whyte's signature ahead of the new season, and has high hopes for the Northern Irish international in the future.

"He just excited me so much. He's full of enthusiasm and is just the type of player that we were looking for.

"I think he'll be a fans' favourite for years to come."

Whyte could be in line to make his debut for Cardiff when they get their new season underway against Wigan Athletic at the weekend.

The Verdict:

This could be a really smart bit of business by the Bluebirds.

Whyte impressed me with Oxford last season, and he strikes me as the sort of player that can adjust to the step up to the Championship quickly.

He's too good to be playing in League One, and I think he'll be a key member of the Cardiff squad as they look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
