Cardiff slumped to their second consecutive home defeat against Charlton Athletic on Saturday, despite taking the lead early in the second half and Bluebirds boss Slade was not too pleased with the result.

Could Russell Slade be adding another striker to his Cardiff squad?
Slade was disappointed with defeat

Guy Luzon's on-form Charlton managed to complete a pleasing comeback at the Cardiff City Stadium with a penalty three minutes from time. The home side went in front through Federico Macheda on the 56th minute only to blow their lead late on.

The result left Cardiff boss Russell Slade increasingly frustrated saying to the BBC that the home side were "a bit mugged" and felt that that they in fact "dominated 75% of the match".

Slade was disappointed in the fashion in which Sean Morrison gave away the penalty late on, the former Reading man lunged across Addicks striker Simon Church to send him to the ground.

The former Leyton Orient boss also stressed his frustration with the way the Bluebirds conceded the equaliser saying: "For the first goal there were plenty of blue shirts in there but we've not locked onto a red shirt and cleared the danger."

Despite the 2-1 defeat, Slade felt there were positives in the performance; "You've still got to search for the positives and I do believe we're getting better, I just think we need to manage the games better".

Cardiff supporters however may not feel the same as their optimistic manager given the fact they have seen only one home win in seven in all competitions at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff are up against play-off chasing Brentford at Griffin Park next which will be an inevitably difficult task, but the South Wales side have been improved away from home with two wins from their last four and only one loss in five on the road.

The Bluebirds will also be boosted by the return of their captain and shot-stopper David Marshall who missed out on the Charlton match due to a small groin injury.
