Cardiff City attacking midfielder Lee Tomlin has sent a message after his impressive display against Stoke City on Tuesday night.

The Bluebirds ran-out 1-0 winners at the Cardiff City Stadium and it was Tomlin who stole the show, winning the man of the match award, something he was clearly proud of.

Taking to Twitter, the former Bristol City and Middlesbrough man said: "3 points is always nice and man of the match 🙌🏻⚽️💙".

Leandro Bacuna scored the only goal of the game in the 11th minute, firing high into the net from inside the six-yard box following a Gary Madine pass.

Can you name Cardiff City’s last 15 permanent managers?

It was enough to give Neil Harris his first win as Cardiff boss and fire the club into the top-half of the table and it was Tomlin, recalled to the starting XI for the clash, who impressed the most.

Since joining Cardiff in the summer of 2017 he has played just 24 times, scoring three goals, and has been shipped out on loan to Nottingham Forest and Peterborough United in that time.

However, he will be hoping that under Neil Harris he will be able to get back to his best and help push the South Wales side up the table.

The verdict

When Tomlin is at his best, there are very few players in the Championship who are better at what he does.

Taking the ball in midfield on the half-turn and driving forward is what he loves doing, before picking a clever pass to one of his teammates.

It is easier said than done, but you feel that if Harris can get the best out of Tomlin, and build his attack around him, Cardiff will find themselves flying up the table.
