Cardiff City among Championship clubs linked with impressive midfielder

Championship table toppers Cardiff City are among a number of Championship clubs who are monitoring Bristol Rover’s winger Billy Bodin, according to the Daily Mail (Yesterday, 13:31pm).

Bodin has made a blistering start to the start of the League One campaign for Rovers, netting five goals in six games so far this season, which has attracted attention from four Championship clubs.

The four interested clubs, including Cardiff City, are thought to be Preston North End, Fulham and Hull City, who are all looking to bolster their squad before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Bodin will be aiming to test himself in the Championship after netting 13 goals in 28 league appearances.

It is thought that Bodin will cost interested parties around £250,000 as a starting figure, which is expected to rise due to competition.

Bristol Rovers are thought to be keen to keep hold of Bodin to improve on their 10th place finish in League One last season.

The Verdict

Personally, I have not heard much about Billy Bodin.

But anyone who is excelling in League One should be given an opportunity in the Championship.

There is often a risk when a player looks to jump up from League One to the Championship due to the difference in quality.

However in today’s crazy world of transfers, £250k could be a real coup for any Championship club.

Cardiff will be in the market for a back-up winger to in-form Junior Hoilett and Anthony Pilkington. Meanwhile, Preston need a replacement for the excellent Aiden McGeady who they seemingly haven’t replaced.

Hull have done some business today by bringing in the talented Jackson Irvine, so they look to be out of the picture, but Fulham need a winger to replace Sone Aluko, who made his move to Reading yesterday.
