Cardiff City have had a disappointing season so far and they went into the World Cup break sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

There has already been a managerial change for the Bluebirds, who at least offered some stability earlier this month when it was confirmed that Mark Hudson would remain in charge of the rest of the campaign.

Whilst it's not a decision that has gone down well with some of the support, it does at least mean that plans can be made moving forward as the Welsh side look to climb the table.

This break will also give Hudson a length of time to work with most of the squad and here we look at THREE things that will be on his mind...

The January transfer window

Cardiff had a ridiculously busy summer window so it's not like Hudson is going to make major changes in the New Year.

However, it's pretty clear that new signings are needed and the next few weeks offer a great opportunity for plans to be put in place. You would imagine that forward players are the priority and the recruitment team will need to identify their main targets during this break.

Given their position, the Bluebirds will need to act swiftly.

How to improve the attack

A return of 17 goals from 21 games is just not good enough and it's why you would expect at least one striker to arrive in the window.

But, there's still enough quality within the current group to be doing more than they are. So, Hudson needs to work on attacking patterns and finding the right formula in terms of making the side more effective in the final third.

Getting the best out of Callum Robinson consistently

Following on from that, you would expect that Callum Robinson is going to be the key man moving forward.

He has had a mixed start to life in Wales but the ability is there and he can make a difference in the final third.

Therefore, Hudson will need to work out a plan to get the Ireland international firing as he could be the individual to drag the team up the table.
