Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has praised Brian Murphy for his performance against Barnsley, reports ITV Sport.

Brian Murphy was standing in for regular goalkeeper Allan McGregor and he played a big role in keeping a clean sheet during Cardiff's 0-0 draw with Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Although both goalkeepers were largely untroubled, Murphy did manage to pull off an impressive double save in the opening stages of the second half.

The Irishman first denied Saidy Janko and then kept out the follow up from Adam Hammill.

This was just a few moments after he replaced regular goalkeeper Allan McGregor at half time after the Hull loanee was forced off with an injury.

Warnock confirmed that the injury was a swelling on his ankle after he was studded while making a clearance.

Neil Warnock praised the stand-in stopper, who was making just his fourth appearance for Cardiff since joining in the summer.

The Cardiff boss said:

"It was really pleasing to keep a clean sheet.

"I know Murphy made a couple of saves, but overall there were some massive pluses for me."

Warnock later added:

"Murphy's done really well for us and before I brought McGregor in he turned our season round for us and I had no worries about sticking him in."
