Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has praised the Bluebirds fans for their wonderful support on the road this season, in an interview with the club’s official site.

The Welsh side travel to Birmingham City on Friday night, with three points at St Andrew’s guaranteed to keep Warnock’s men top of the table for at least another week.

Cardiff have been excellent on the road this season, losing just once in a heavy defeat at Preston, and Warnock has attributed his team’s fine form away from home to the support of the travelling hordes of passionate fans.

Warnock also confirmed that the club were waiting on the fitness of Bruno Ecuele Manga and Neil Etheridge, with the pair set to return to the club today from international duty.

Cardiff face a Birmingham City side desperate for a win and under new management, with Steve Cotterill taking the reigns following Harry Redknapp’s sacking last month.

The Verdict

Fans pay an absolute fortune to follow their team across the country, and those who travel to watch the Bluebirds will be delighted to be recognised by their beloved boss for their continued support of the club.

Warnock is an excellent manager at gaining popularity with his fanbase, and his words will be a real boost to the travelling hordes ahead of the long drive up to Birmingham on Friday evening.

With the match scheduled to be on TV, perhaps Warnock’s words were a tactical ploy to ensure people travelled instead of remaining in the comfort of their living rooms.

I wouldn’t put it past Warnock, being the wily old character that he is.
