Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City are in talks with each other over a potential swap deal involving Lee Tomlin and Jamie Ward, according to sources at HITC.

Forest striker Ward was expected to tie up a move to the capital and sign for Millwall today, however, that deal could now be in jeopardy, with Forest keen on adding a replacment and seeing Tomlin as the ideal man to improve their squad.

The experienced duo have both been short on game time for their respective clubs this season and a move would do them the world of good heading into the second half of the campaign.

For Ward, a move to Wales and Cardiff would see a reunion with his former manager at Sheffield United Kevin Blackwell, who is back serving as number two under long time friend Neil Warnock.

Tomlin meanwhile will be hoping to reunite with his former manager himself, having worked under new Reds manager Aitor Karanka at Middlesbrough a few seasons ago.

Meanwhile, Millwall will still be hoping to complete a deal for Ward, with the Lions bound to be disappointed if they miss out on Ward at the last minute on what has been a frantic deadline day so far in the Sky Bet Championship.

Forest and Cardiff fans, what do you think to this? Good news? Let us know in the comments!
