Cardiff City's Marlon Pack spoke to the club’s media today ahead of their game against Sheffield Wednesday tonight, and the midfielder is confident of adding to Cardiff's record in South Wales.

Only Preston (16) have taken more points from their home games this season than Cardiff (13).

Neil Warnock’s side have been slowly creeping up the Championship table and despite a 4-2 loss at leaders West Brom last time out, go into tonight’s game 11th-place in the table.

They’re three places and three points behind tonight’s opponents Sheffield Wednesday, who’ve gotten off to a steady start under new manager Garry Monk who was appointed last month.

The trip to South Wales tonight will arguably be Monk’s toughest task yet as Owls' boss yet and speaking ahead of tonight, Cardiff City midfielder Marlon Pack expects a tough assignment too:

“As always in the Championship, we know each game is going to be tough and they’ve got a lot of quality but I don’t think that detracts from what we’ll try and do,” said Pack.

“We’re at home and we’ll try and start on the front foot and hopefully continue that for the rest of the game.”

Pack joined the Bluebirds on deadline day this season, leaving Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

He was the club captain at Ashton Gate, and Cardiff fans were wowed when he was announced by the club.

So far this season he’s featured five times in the league having missed a large part through injury, and scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win over QPR at the start of this month.

The verdict

Warnock's side has made a fortress of their Cardiff City Stadium this season, which makes up for their dismal form on the road - three points from six games away from home.

The visit of Monk's Wednesday will be another tall order for the Welsh outfit, but Pack and his merry men will be raring to get going after the break, and continue their ascent up the Championship table.
