Nottingham Forest edged Norwich City last night in what was a tightly contested affair between the two at the City Ground.

With neither side winning at the weekend, it was imperative for both teams to try and get the three points in order to boost their play-off chances.

However, it was only Forest that did so come the end of the game as Daryl Murphy - back in the side after sitting out at the weekend - scored the winner in the last quarter of an hour of the game.

Certainly, then, that was the perfect tonic for the club after losing to Birmingham but Norwich will feel that on a different day they could have got something because they played well.

With that in mind, then, here's our combined XI from the match:

Up front, Murphy has to be in as he hit the winner and that means £4.5m-rated Nelson Oliveira misses out.

In midfield, we've got Mustapha Carayol who came on and made the all important assist for Murphy with a bright showing whilst Wes Hoolahan is in for Norwich as he looked a threat throughout.

Deeper in midfield, we've got David Vaughan, Liam Bridcutt and Harrison Reed as the trio all performed brilliantly in the middle of the park, ensuring attacking threats were kept to a minimum from both teams.

Then, in defence, it's an all Forest affair apart from at right back where Ivo Pinto is found. Forest looked solid last night whilst Norwich need to try and take the positives from a decent away showing.
