‘Captain. Leader. Legend!’ – Twitter reacts to retirement of Nottingham Forest captain

Sky Bet Championship outfit Nottingham Forest ended their 2017/18 home campaign with a 0-0 draw against Bristol City and perhaps the highlight of the day for the home supporters was seeing captain Chris Cohen bow out of professional football.

The 31-year-old has not featured for the Reds since the opening week of the season but he received a warm reception when boss Aitor Karanka opted to introduce him into the action with a couple of minutes remaining.

Cohen has played over 300 times for Forest in an 11-year spell at the City Ground but in recent years a cruel run of three serious knee ligament injuries have blighted his career.

The central midfielder made the tough decision to retire in recent weeks and yesterday saw the curtain come down on a period of his life where he has been worshiped by the adoring Forest faithful.

Following Cohen’s final appearance, Forest fans were quick to take to their world of Twitter to pay their own tributes to their captain fantastic and Football League World have been collating the very best of them.

Nottingham Forest fans, what are your fond memories of Chris Cohen in a red shirt? Let us know in the comments below!!!
