‘Can’t wait to see you back in the first team’ – Many Stoke City fans flock to fresh player update

Stoke City winger Thibaud Verlinden has sent a message to Potters fans after he helped the U23s claim a 4-1 win yesterday, which has proved a talking point among fans of the Championship club.

The Belgian has not featured for the first team since February having been sidelined by an ugly ACL injury for much of 2020.

Verlinden is now back fit and featured for the U23s again last night, helping them beat Reading U23s 4-1 at Clayton Wood with Moritz Bauer grabbing a hat-trick.

The 21-year-old took to Twitter after the game to send a message to fans and hint that he’s working hard to get another chance in the first team.

The winger’s return is good news for Stoke and gives Michael O’Neill yet another option to choose from in the final third.

Verlinden had been recalled by the Potters last January after impressing on loan at Bolton – scoring three goals and adding three assists – but managed just 54 Championship minutes for the club before picking up his injury against Preston North End.

Do Stoke City and Port Vale have these 10 things in common?
