Huddersfield Town have secured the signing of former Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Tom Lees.

The 30-year-old, who left The Owls after his contract expired in June, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Yorkshire club.

Lees completed his Huddersfield medical late this week and has the option for a further year at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The defender has racked up over 400 Championship experiences in his career thus far, making his debut at second-tier level in 2011 for Leeds United.

Lees added a further 38 Championship appearances to his resume last time out but was unable to steer Wednesday away from relegation to League One.

Born in Birmingham, the central defender joined the Leeds United academy aged eight. He went on to progress through the club's academy system, before loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Bury.

The 30-year-old accumulated 123 appearances for Leeds, before The Owls, secured his services in 2014. In seven years with the recently relegated third-tier club, Lees made just shy of 250 appearances, scoring 13 goals in the process.

The vastly experienced Championship defender has now been awarded with another chance at Championship level with another Yorkshire club.
