Reading boss José Gomes has stated that the club remain four points off their targets despite just two games being played of the new campaign.

The Royals have began the season slowly after opening with two defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Hull.

In the week leading up to the transfer deadline day, Gomes brought in a number of key acquisitions, with Inter Milan forward George Puscas joining as well as Sheffield Wednesday striker Lucas Joao.

With ten new signings joining the Royals this summers, Gomes has hinted at a change of formation from four at the back to three. Modou Barrow also departed the club, leaving a lack of wingers for last season's 4-3-3 formation.

Speaking to GetReading, Gomes said: "We have 44 games in front of us in the league and we are just four points off achieving our targets.

"We cannot lose the happiness to be working to give positive energy to our players because it's the only way we have in life to get success, with good energy.

"I have good people inside the changing room and I'm sure we'll achieve our target."
