Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on the signing of Manchester City winger Morgan Rogers, as per the Daily Mail.

Rogers has been heavily linked with a move to Forest, with The Athletic reporting the Reds' interest in the 19-year-old over two weeks ago.

The winger was even spotted at the City Ground on Saturday as Forest lost 2-1 at home to AFC Bournemouth, and where he's heading to now makes the weekend look even more interesting.

According to the Daily Mail, Bournemouth are in talks to sign Rogers in a loan-to-buy deal, including an obligation to buy of around £9million.

The Cherries have lost talisman Arnaut Danjuma to Villarreal for around £21.3million, leaving scope to bring in another classy wide player in Rogers.

Forest have struggled to bring in targets this summer, and realistically, a £9million fee is way out of their range at the moment.

Bournemouth, however, can afford to bring in a young, hot prospect like Rogers following the big-money sale of Danjuma.

This doesn't make it any easier for Forest fans, though, after watching their club miss out on yet another target to an ambitious Championship rival.
