Tammy Abraham has dealt Aston Villa's transfers plans a significant blow after telling manager Dean Smith and coach John Terry that he wants to compete for a first team spot at parent club Chelsea, The Sun have reported.

The 21-year-old striker has enjoyed an outstanding season on loan at Villa Park, ending the campaign as the club's top scorer with 26 goals, as Villa ended a three year wait for a return to the Premier League after beating Derby in Monday's play-off final at Wembley.

While Villa would have be keen to bring Abraham back to the club for their top flight return next season, the striker himself has reportedly told the club's hierarchy that he feels next season is his best opportunity to break into Chelsea's first team, and that he would never be able to forgive himself if he does not attempt to do that.

Although that means that Villa will now have to search for another first choice striker in the summer transfer window, many Villa fans were understanding of Abraham's comments as they took to Twitter to respond to the news.

Here are some of the best of those reactions.
