A number of Derby County supporters have been reacting to the latest update from The Sun journalist Alan Nixon that the Rams have offered contracts without wage figures to their free-agent trialists.

The Rams have been desperate to bolster their squad ahead of the start of the new Championship campaign with Wayne Rooney’s squad looking very thin at the moment.

The likes of Sone Aluko, Sam Baldock, Ravel Morrison, Ryan Allsopp, Tom Carroll, Phil Jagielka, and Richard Stearman have been on trial with the Rams during pre-season in a bid to earn a contract with the club ahead of the new Championship season.

Rooney had suggested earlier on in the week that he was expecting the club to make signings imminently and it was believed that those trialists were the potential signings in question.

However, Mel Morris has since suggested in a meeting with Supporter Charter Group that nothing will be happening in terms of signings until a few issues are sorted with the EFL.

Nixon has now revealed that players and management at the club have been left confused by Morris’ comments and have held a summit before all players on trial were handed contracts without any wage details on them.

He then clarified by suggesting that the contracts remain blank because the EFL have to tell them how much they can pay in wages and how many players they can sign.

Many Derby fans were worried by this latest update and baffled by what is happening off the field with the Rams.
