Sky Bet League Two promotion-hopefuls Bury have been hit with a winding up petition due to what is being described as "historical debt".

Concerns were raised when reports surfaced, claiming that players and staff had still not been paid their salaries for the month of March, at what is a crucial stage of the season for the Lancashire club on the pitch.

News has now emerged, however, stating that the club have been served a winding up petition by former assistant boss Chris Brass, who is claimed to be a creditor.

A spokesman for the club said: "The winding up order is in the hands of the club’s lawyers - this is an historical debt and will be addressed before the winding up date."

The news is certainly taking a shine off what has been a hugely impressive campaign for Bury thus far, with Ryan Lowe's men currently occupying the final automatic promotion spot in the League Two table.

Fans will be hoping that this news doesn't affect their chances of promotion in the short-term, but after a 3-0 home defeat to relegation-threatened Cambridge United on Tuesday night, it's clear to see that morale is low.

Here, we take a look at Bury fans' reactions to this significant news...
