Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk could have a task on is hands, if he wishes to hold onto his goal-keeper Cameron Dawson, with a number of clubs including Preston keen on the 24-year-old, according to The Star.

Dawson is a one club man having come through the youth ranks at Hillsborough, before spending time out on loan at Plymouth Argyle, Alfreton Town, Wycombe and Chesterfield.

So would Dawson be a good addition at Deepdale? Is he needed?

We discuss........

Ben Lang

"This would be a good addition for Preston given they are in need for extra back-up for Declan Rudd, while Dawson is also a strong young goalkeeper.

"He has already proven his capabilities in the Wednesday side this season when filling in for Lee Westwood, and this means it would be something of a surprise if the Owls decided to let him go.

"However, I would not be too sure on the deal if Preston are targeting Dawson as a direct replacement for Rudd, as they would surely want a goalkeeper with more first-team experience.

"Dawson could end up replacing Rudd in the starting line-up if he runs down his contract over the summer, and some fans would perhaps have their reservations about this, but I think Dawson would be up to the task."

George Brooks

"Dawson is a promising young goalkeeper and he could be a great signing for Preston - especially if they can get him for a bargain fee with him. Sheffield Wednesday will be reluctant to lose him though, especially to a potential promotion rival.

"Even though's he's the back-up goalkeeper to Keiren Westwood at Hillsborough at the moment, he's still a talented goalkeeper and has a decent amount of experience in the Championship.

"He might be getting to the stage in his career where he feels that he's ready to be the first-choice, so there's every chance that he could be tempted to leave Sheffield Wednesday.

"Preston goalkeeper Declan Rudd is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Rangers, so bringing in someone like Dawson would be a smart move."

Louie Chandler

"I think this could be a bit of a shrewd signing.

"In Declan Rudd, Alex Neil already has a decent Championship standard keeper, but bringing in another to bolster competition cannot be a bad idea.

"And whilst Dawson is yet to establish himself in the Owls' first-team, he is clearly a goalkeeper with a lot of potential.

"So if Preston are to land him, they will have a plan in place in the even that Rudd leaves and also have a player on board whose value will only increase."
