David Prutton is expecting Sheffield United to bounce back from their midweek setback when they face Birmingham City at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted Chris Wilder’s side to be 2-1 winners in Saturday’s televised game, with Leon Clarke once against amongst the goals.

Clarke has 12 goals to his name this season, and notched his second hat-trick in three games on Tuesday evening, as the Blades played out a thrilling contest with Fulham at Bramall Lane.

The striker’s three goals were not enough to secure a victory for Wilder’s side, who were beaten 5-4 by Fulham in the Championship’s standout midweek fixture.

Although that result saw Sheffield United slide out of the automatic promotion places, they are still far better placed than Saturday’s opponents, Birmingham, who are struggling under Steve Cotterill.

The Blues sit just one place outside the relegation zone heading into the weekend, with Cotterill’s side picking up only two victories in seven since his appointment.

During that period of time they have scored just two goals, and suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.

The Verdict

It is hard to look past the Blades in this fixture, with Wilder’s side sure to be fired up following such a disappointing result during the week.

Wilder will not want his side to lose their winning mentality, and Birmingham could be about to feel to full force of Sheffield United’s response.

These are testing times for Birmingham, and Cotterill must be concerned about the lack of goals his side are scoring.

Home victory.
